Meet 2010 Miss Wisconsin
Kimberly Sawyer, 2010 Miss Wisconsin
Education and Career
Hello! My name is Kimberly Sawyer. I am 23 years old, and a native of Egg Harbor, WI (aka Door County for those more familiar with the famous vacation destination). I am a 2005 graduate of Gibraltar High School and a 2009 graduate of St. Norbert College. I graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and a minor in Spanish, and also had the opportunity to play softball for the St. Norbert College softball team. I currently work as a business analyst for a supply chain management and fuel consulting company in De Pere, WI. I plan to attend the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to obtain my M.B.A.
Family
My parents, John & Jackie, have always been my role models. I was raised in such a loving family, where I learned the value of hard work, honesty, and humility. I owe all of my successes to them, and dont know where I would be without their constant love and support.
As many know, my sister Katie is also involved with the Miss America Organization. Excitingly enough, she was the first runner-up this year at Miss Wisconsin!! It was an amazing and touching moment that I will never forget. I am so proud of the beautiful and talented woman that she has become and truly look up to my little sister.
My brother, Tom, (yes, Tom Sawyer) is quite the young man who never ceases to amaze me with his many talents. As an accomplished athlete and an excellent singer, I know he will succeed in all that he does. I cannot wait to support him in the years to come as he embarks on his own collegiate career in both football and baseball at Ripon College.
Singing & Softball
I, like many little girls, have been singing and entertaining since childhood, but my real singing career began in childrens theater, school musicals, choir, solo/ensemble, and Madrigal Musica (yes, I was queen for a year). Now, performing as part of pageant competition is something that I love to do, along with singing at all types of events, including the national anthem! I absolutely cannot wait to get on that Miss America stage and sing my heart out! My sister and my brother both love to sing as well, but no, we do not plan on starting the Sawyer Family Singers anytime soon.
Sports have always been and continue to be one of my passions in life. Coming from an athletic background, I became a three sport athlete in high school (volleyball, basketball, & softball) and played NCAA Division III softball for St. Norbert College, where in 2009 we won the Midwest Conference Championship. Being involved in sports has given me a solid foundation in life. I have learned how to focus and push myself to reach my goals, and truly understand the power of positive thinking and visualization. I understand how to be a good leader, and also a good teammate, which is necessary in all facets of life. I learned to take constructive criticism, and through perseverance, turn it into a positive change and outcome. I cannot say thank you enough to all of my coaches and teammates throughout the years that have taught me more about life than they could ever imagine.
